Life 2.0: A New Semester and a New Plan
This is a new start to my life and this website. One reason I haven't blogged much lately is I've fallen off the proverbial wagon in terms of fitness and really everything else. I have just not been as disciplined in most aspects of my life.
I'm not overweight. A lot of my friends, in fact, ask me what I do to stay so thin. But I'm still not in good physical condition at all. I'm what most people call "skinny fat," meaning I'm not chubby and can wear small sizes but I just don't really have good muscle tone (thin but kind of flabby).
So now it's time for me to get back into my routines. I'm about to start my new school year and I want my body back (my fit body). I think since my life will be a little bit more structured I'll also be able to keep my gym and diet schedule more faithfully.
But it's important for me to do this on a reasonable budget. Fortunately my tuition will also be my gym fee: I can use my university's recreation center, which is fully equipped.
Now for my plan: obviously I can't afford a one-one one personal trainer--that's way out of a student's budget. I also thought about doing something like P90X, but it's not really practical to train in my dorm room.
I'm going to try the Venus Factor 12 week fat loss system. Like I said, I'm not really trying to lose weight as much as I'm trying to get leaner and get some muscle tone. I think this program will be good. I bought it and it wasn't so expensive, and I really like some of the perks that come with the program. The forum is really a great place to talk with other women who are also doing these workouts. I also like the way the diet and overall program is set up for what I want to do.
There's a big emphasis on weight training in this plan. That will take a little getting used to but the more I research the more I realize it's necessary to incorporate it into my overall fitness plan. I used to be afraid of getting to big or hulky, but now I know better. I've seen too many models that do lots of weight training and they are definitely not masculine looking.
I may even look into joining some kind of competition like a bikini fitness model contest. It really depends on how things go between now and then. All in due time.
Wish me luck!
